“I always felt that I had a really small chin. I made an appointment with Dr. Kolker to consult about having a chin augmentation procedure and to learn more about his surgical technique. I immediately felt comfortable with him as a person as well as a surgeon. Now, one year after having surgery, I feel like I have looked this way forever.”

Facial implants are commonly used to aesthetically improve facial contouring and to achieve a balance of facial features.

The results can provide a more harmonious, proportionate look to your face. Chin augmentation, or chin implants, can be performed to produce a more defined chin profile and distinct jaw line, which can dramatically improve a recessive chin or a rounded face and neck.

Chin augmentation or chin implant can also be performed in conjunction with other facial procedures to accentuate the lower face and neck line. A chin implant is frequently combined with liposuction of the neck, facelift, necklift, and rhinoplasty procedures. Although less commonly used, in certain instances, cheek implants or jaw implants can provide balance and highlights to a less defined face or further enhance an already existent cheek structure. Of all facial implant procedures, Dr. Kolker most commonly performs Chin Implants in NYC.

During your NYC Chin Implant procedure, small incisions are made either inside the mouth or inconspicuously beneath the chin.

The chin implant is then placed into a small pocket directly in front of the jaw bone. Depending upon your specific needs, a silicone chin implant or a porous polyethylene chin implant (Medpor chin implant) will be selected, and with a size and shape that suits you best. The chin implants, made of non-reactive surgical materials, come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Carving of the chin implant is performed when necessary to sculpt the chin implant to match your jaw anatomy. The particular implant that is placed will be chosen based upon your desires.

The implant is most often anchored to the bone with a suture (silicone chin implant) or with a screw (porous polyethylene or Medpor chin implant). Tapes will be placed beneath the chin to minimize swelling. Stitches placed inside the mouth will dissolve after approximately week. If sutures are required underneath the chin, they will be removed after one week. Dr. Kolker will recommend the individual chin implant technique that suits you best. A Chin Implant in New York is performed in Dr. Kolker's office-based surgical suite, accredited by the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). Cheek implant surgery is also performed in Dr. Kolker's office-based AAASF-accredited surgical suite. A cheek implant, when performed as an isolated procedure, takes between 60 and 90 minutes.
